Congratulations to Jeannine Anderson with BACS' SAGE team, winner of our Whatever It Takes award! “I remember walking into a bright yellow apartment, with one of my very first clients. She walked all around the unit and stood in the living room, looking a little stuck. I walked over to her, placed my hand on her shoulder and said, "Hey, you ok?" She turned to me and said, "This is mine... right?" I looked her deep in her eye and emphatically responded, "This is YOURS!" She literally leapt into my arms and sobbed, wetting the front of my shirt. I know I won't always get THAT response, but her response is the goal I hold in my mind's eye, it is the reason I work as hard as I do. It's my focus when the work gets rough, and I need a 'mental health day'. I come back renewed because someone out there is looking for their home, and I can connect them to resources to get it. THAT is worth coming in to work every day!” Jeannine is being featured for her ability to get clients housed in a short period of time, for her initiative, for the support she shows to her team (including bringing in home-baked treats!), for her exceptional commitment to her work and for her tireless dedication to BACS’ mission. Congratulations, Jeannine, and thank you for everything you do for your team and our partners!

In California, roughly 181,000 people — about 30% of the USA's homeless population – are currently experiencing homelessness, including a disproportionate number of people of color. As part of the Partnerships for Action: California Health Care & Homelessness Learning Collaborative (P4A), over 70 homelessness and health care experts converged in Oakland, CA last fall to exchange ideas and spotlight innovative programs to help people experiencing homelessness. This brief and short video brings the two-day convening to life and highlights a few of the projects and participants within the P4A initiative. https://bit.ly/3TnebkD California Health Care Foundation Janna Nichols Jovan Yglecias, LMFT Jamie Almanza Jordan Hoiberg 5Cities Homeless Coalition

Congratulations to Martina Thomas for winning BACS' #WhateverItTakes award! Martina comes to work every day radiating positive energy to all staff and clients. Every day she REALLY shows up for her clients with passion and compassion, she works hard, emphasizes deeply and does meaningful work without depleting herself. She strives profoundly to provide quality care to our clients by challenging broader structural issues to enhance their wellbeing in their communities. Her favorite part of working for BACS is "how team oriented we are - we are more like family than coworkers. I love how well we work and collaborate with each other. My greatest success at BACS is being able to get my client housed.” Congratulations, Martina, and thank you for everything you do for your team and our partners! #employeeofthemonth #family #career #jobsatisfaction
